“Not me, US” isn’t just some fancy Buttigiegian marketing slogan, it’s the reality.
So long as WE keep focused on building OUR revolution, keep re-assessing our role and committing to it, then we will change the System so that it recognizes and supports us.
How this happens is anybody’s guess. Of course, I’d like to see it happen with a President Sanders on our side, but we should be wary of making the success of his candidacy the end-all-be-all to the success of our movement.
There are going to be ups and downs on this path, and while as individuals we have a small influence on the collective, we do have the ability to develop our own responses accordingly.
Sometimes, such as this past weekend in my case, that means taking a step or two back and simply re-charging our battery. For me, going cycling and spending time outdoors is key; but there are millions of methods for self-care – meditation, breathwork, yoga, listening to music, creating art, etc. Find yours and do your best to use it as needed!
