That said, I think asking a judge questions about hot-button issues are a way to look into how they think and what their values are. Considering a Supreme Court Justice is nominated for life, I'd rather Congresspeople have the opportunity to take their time and ask a wide variety of questions---on camera---so that people can see what kind of person this is who will be in such a critical position.
