I really enjoyed this article, Brian.
I had an intuition about a year ago that I've seen others, such as you, reflect with different language and frames throughout 2020 and the way I put it is:
The Savior is US.
Meaning, I believe we are being called upon to become more personally responsible, to become better versions of ourselves and to do whatever OUR part is in making the better world we all long for.
Too often, we've looked for things outside of ourselves to do the heavy lifting. You focused on how there's been a lot of that in terms of looking to the government to solve our problems.
Indeed.
As you stated, though, it's not all or nothing---we have to find ways to be both be more authentically ourselves and to work together as a group. Government plays a role in this.
Last, I appreciated how you drew from history and the Bible in this piece but in a way that was approachable to those of us who are not Christians. Sometimes people in secular culture gets mixed up thinking there's no wisdom in these traditions that they don't practice, but it's my experience that wisdom can be found just about anywhere and the ancient texts are often full of it.
