Excellent advice, Scott, on how to get followers.

TBH, I probably only read 5-10 articles on Medium in an average week but for the vast majority of those, I'll at least leave claps (just showing recognition of the work the author put into it) and on probably half of those, I'll include a comment, too.

And I'm reasonably sure adding comments is what's caused my follower list to break that magic 100 number long ago. I don't write often enough and I don't do a lot of self-promotion, yet I know I gain followers and when I track the breadcrumbs I often discover it was because I left a comment on someone's post somewhere.

It really doesn't take that long and, after all, you've written a long post---which has to be edited and such---a comment can be like this one, with likely some issues in grammar and punctuation and no one's gonna call you out on it. Give it a go!
