Poetry
Sometimes I think
that these words that flow through me
should be shared more widely
so that anyone may drink
Because instead,
I sometimes confine them
inside my head
where they Light me up
but remain dead
for those who cannot hear them.
But other times I ponder
that it’s better to let them wander
leave them free to be gifts for me
lifting my Spirit, which will surely
allow others to hear it, to feel it
when I’m interacting with them
with actions beyond words.
I don’t know – have you heard the birds?
They are chirping,
messengers of delight,
not mere creatures flying by
And they wish to alight
that divine spark within You,
which is inextinguishable
Forever ready to be rekindled
if only you choose to hear
the magic flutes and mystical rhythms of Mother Nature
Her band ever playin’
dancin’ in the rain,
floating down the drains
and what is She sayin’?
You askin’ me?
Why not open your senses and see?
And hear?
And feel?
And taste?
So much of Her goes to waste
in our wasteful world of distractions,
our earbuds delighting us
with the ingenuity of our human concoctions and contraptions…
I’m speaking to myself here, dontcha know it!
Sometimes I look at my smart/stupid phone
and I want to throw it
into a river I’m biking by
so that I
can tune in to the magic of the skies,
opening my eyes (again)
Taking it ALL in,
pondering if Original Sin
is our distraction from the Divine,
around us all the time
And so these are the things I’m ponderin’
On an early Saturday mornin’
As I’m kinda mourning the warm mornings
of 2021 passed away
as the sun’s rays no longer rises
so early, so warmly, in the day
But I also say a prayer of gratitude
for now the blankets are more cozy
and the darkness more conducive
for inspiring reflections like this one
So before I’m done, all I want to say is…
It’s all a paradox this stage upon which we play our parts
And so thanks for staying with me from the start,
for another day,
and I bide you well
as you move on your way
Is your cup full
or shall we continue this game?
Shall I stand aside,
get out of the way
and let the words water the garden,
a lovely start to another day in Paradise?
Ah, that was nice, that was nice.
